This project began as a commission by UVA Fontaine Research Park  to create pathway connections between two medical buildings facing on to an expansive lawn with views to the mountains.     To capture a primary desire line and provide additional accessible routes,  Wolf Josey proposed a central oval courtyard bounded by a seat wall oriented towards the mountains.  The courtyard, carved into the sloping grade and surrounded by native planting provides a place of respite and tranquility in a busy medical setting.
